Jivko Petrov & JP3

Jivko Petrov is one of the most influential contemporary Bulgarian musicians. He is a pianist, composer, arranger and producer. Throughout the years he has received many awards. He has recorded and toured with many Bulgarian artists such as Lili Ivanova, Yildiz Ibrahimova, Kamelia Todorova, Beloslava, Maria Ilieva, Hilda Kazasyan, Theodosii Spassov, Vasko Vassilev, Lubo Kirov as well as international artists including Chico Freeman, Francesco Bearzatti, Natalie The Floacist and Natalie Cole (Milan/ Piazza Duomo - Christmas Concert, 2008).

In 2007 he established Jivko Petrov Trio (JP3) with Dimitar Semov (drums) and Vesselin Vesselinov "Eko" (bass), which soon became one of the most recognised jazz trios in Bulgaria. In the same year the trio released their debut album – the DVD recording “Understandable”, followed by studio album “It’s a Dream” (2012) with special guest Vasko Vassilev, which currently stands as Eastern Europe’s best selling digital jazz album. They were invited to take part in London Jazz Fest 2012. After very successful tour in Canada the trio presented their second studio album “Between the worlds” on 2nd of June 2015. In 2020, JP3 released Change the Way. The trio has many live performances in clubs, festivals all around the world.

His work as a producer has very significant role in Bulgarian music scene. For a period of 20 years his name stands behind many talented musicians in Bulgaria, which now are one of the most famous singers in the country. In this list are names like Beloslava, Lubo Kirov, Orlin Pavlov, Kamelia Todorova, Maria Ilieva and more. Jivko Petrov is behind live performances that became emblematic for the Bulgarian scene like Lili Ivanova Live with Symphony Orchestra, Arena Armeec Hall, 2012, Nie Izbrahme muzikata (Maria Ilieva, Beloslava, Lubo Kirov, Orlin Pavlov, Grafa) 2013.

In the spring of 2015 Jivko Petrov presented his first solo album “After 4”. The album contains 10 original classical compositions. Four years later, in 2019, he presented his second solo piano album “Ten”.
