Boryana Sechanova

In 1981 Boriana Sechanova graduated from the State Choreographic School and in the same year she enrolled the dance group of the National Opera in Sofia as a ballet dancer. In 1990 she went to Moscow in the State Institute for Theater Art. Her lecturer was professor Olga Tarasova. She graduated from it as a ballet director.

In 1991 she finished her carrier as a ballet dancer in the National Opera in Sofia and from this year ongoing her name can be met more and more often in the culture life of the country as a choreographer.

She created more than 40 ballet and theatrical performances for the National Theatre for Opera and Ballet – Sofia, Arabesque Contemporary Dance Company, National Theatre “Ivan Vazov”, State Operas in Stara Zagova, Varna, Rousse, Pantdance Theatre etc.

Since 2000 she is an Artistic Director and choreographer of the Arabesque Contemporary Dance Company.

In 2006 Boriana Sechanova was elected as a member of the jury of International Ballet Competition, Varna.

In 1996 she receives First Award for contemporary on 17th International Ballet Competition, Varna 1996, Setting with modern choreography, for the play “A little bit later”, music by Enia. The performance “FAUST” was rewarded as a best performance from Sofia municipality in 2003.

The performance “Carmina Burana” was rewaeded as best performance for 2006 and received the price “Cristal Lyre” from Union of Musicians & Dancers, Sofia Bulgaria.
